  • Managing Director

    Simon graduated from the Institute of Sound and Vibration Research at Southampton University in 1989 with a BEng (Hons) degree in Engineering Acoustics and Vibration. He joined a leading acoustic consultancy in 1990, became a Director in 1998 and Managing Director in 2008. In 2022, Simon and three fellow directors co-founded Quantum Acoustics.

    He is a Chartered Engineer, FEANI European Engineer, a Fellow of the Institute of Acoustics, a Member of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers, a Member of the Society of Building Services Engineers and a Member of the Society of Expert Witnesses.

    Andrew graduated from Salford University with a BSc(Hons) degree in Electro Acoustics and joined a leading UK consultancy in 2003, becoming a Director in 2015. In 2022 he co-founded Quantum Acoustics. He is a Member of the Institute of Acoustics, is active on the Institute of Acoustics Publications Editorial Board and is qualified in Health and Safety at Senior Executive level.

    Andrew has extensive experience in all aspects of acoustic design encompassing architectural, building services and environmental disciplines. This includes the application of current standards with proven on-site results for acoustically high performing developments. Through 20 years of consulting, he has cultivated an acute understanding of the acoustic criteria necessary to satisfy clients across all sectors and project values, together with the skills required to follow through and deliver the commensurate acoustic performance.

  • Director

    John is a Member of the Institute of Acoustics, having gained the Institute of Acoustics Diploma in 1992. With over 30 years of experience, he has considerable knowledge of the acoustics industry, including building acoustics and environmental/planning acoustics. He has been involved with numerous projects ranging from large international development to smaller domestic enquiries.

    John often provides expert witness services, representing developers and Local Authorities. He has presented evidence for planning and licensing matters, including in the High Court and to Select Parliamentary Committees. Throughout his career he has developed an excellent understanding of individual clients’ requirements, demonstrated through a well proven track record.

    John has over 24 years of acoustics consultancy experience, specialising in architectural, building services and environmental acoustics. He is a member of the Institute of Acoustics with a BSc (Hons) degree in Environmental Science and a Diploma in acoustics. He joined a leading UK consultancy in 1997 and became a Director in 2008. John co-founded Quantum Acoustics in 2022.

    John has extensive experience in planning matters, office fit-outs and the design of many high-quality mixed-use schemes. He is an experienced user of noise mapping software for environmental acoustics applications. For each project he prides himself on providing clients with a personal and responsive approach.

  • Director

    Paul is a highly experienced acoustic “all -rounder” with 35 years’ of practical acoustic consultancy experience. Paul is a corporate Member of the Institute of Acoustics and holds the Institute’s Silver Certificate.

    Paul provides input covering all aspects of noise and vibration assessment, including architectural acoustics; building services acoustics; and industrial noise and vibration. Paul has a particular strength in environmental noise and vibration, preparing Noise Assessments to accompany development proposals/EIA's, and routinely acts as an expert witness in this field, giving evidence at Public Inquiries, at Planning Hearings, in front of Planning Committees; in connection with both civil / criminal court cases and licensing matters.

    Paul has a powerful ability to identify quickly the acoustic challenges posed by proposed developments and provide the technical support to professional colleagues to address and deliver the sustainable development opportunities sought by Clients.

  • Associate

    Phil has considerable experience in environmental health, protection, and acoustic consultancy for over 25 years. He has worked for Local Authorities for over 20 years including Westminster City Council. Phil gained the IOA Diploma in Acoustics in 2003 and added his MSc in Applied Acoustics in 2012. He is a corporate member of the Institute of Acoustics (IOA), the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) and The Institute of Environmental Science (IES).

    Phil has provided expert witness services for both private and public sector clients at Magistrate Court hearings and appeals, Public Inquiries, High Court and Judicial Review proceedings. Phil has also held the position of senior visiting lecturer at the University of Westminster since 2008, primarily teaching students on the topic of acoustics and the built environment.

  • Executive Consultant

    Steve is an experienced consultant, he has worked in the acoustics industry for over 45 years. Having worked for a leading acoustic consultancy practice with three of Quantum’s Directors, he founded The EQUUS Partnership and was Managing Director of the practice for over 30 years.

    Steve specialises and offers industry leading advice in relation to the acoustic design of building facades. He has a well proven track record providing design and research expertise to assist in product development, with a particular specialism in office partitioning systems to deliver the exacting demand of modern office fit-outs.

  • Senior Consultant

    Raquel has an MSc and has also completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Acoustics and Noise Control. She is a Member to the Institute of Acoustics. Prior to joining QA, Raquel was an Acoustic Consultant at Mayer Brown, where she covered all aspects of noise and vibration. Raquel has a particular passion for environmental acoustics and has produced many Noise Assessments to accompany development proposals/EIA’s.

  • Consultant

    Matthew graduated from the Institute of Sound and Vibration Research at Southampton University with a BEng (Hons) degree in Engineering Acoustics and Vibration.

    While studying for his degree, he completed an internship with Sandy Brown Associates, where he gained experience working on noise control, architectural acoustics and computer modelling projects.

  • Assistant Consultant

    Luke has recently completed a Master's in Audio Forensics and Restoration from Liverpool John Moores University. Alongside working with the latest industry-standard multimedia software, the course also enabled him to gain knowledge of the guidelines and standards currently governing audio forensic practices in England and Wales. During this time at university, Luke developed a passion for environmental and architectural acoustics.

  • Assistant Consultant

    Harry has a degree in Mechanical Engineering and Mechatronics, as well as previous experience working in both automotive and manufacturing, his technical background is extremely beneficial to the team. He is passionate about acoustics, always striving to expand his knowledge.

  • Assistant Consultant

    Ben is a recent graduate from the University of Southampton, holds a degree in Acoustical Engineering. During his studies Ben gained experience in a range of different acoustic areas including noise control, architectural acoustics, and signal processing.

  • Technical Assistant

    Ben works part time providing assistance with environmental noise surveys, data analysis and report preparation. He has graduated from the University of Bristol with a Geography BSc.

    He has previous experience in contaminated land and geotechnical work and experience in marketing and sales via an internship in Vietnam.

  • Finance Manager

    Nicki graduated from Swansea University with a BSC in Business.

    She handles all QA’s accounting transactions, is responsible for the preparation of financial accounts and liaising with the company accountants.

    Sam assists with environmental noise surveys, sound insulation testing, data analysis and report preparation.

  • Technical Assistant

    Josh is currently studying Computer Science at the University of Liverpool.

    Josh works part-time during the holidays. He provides assistance with environmental noise surveys, sound insulation testing, data analysis and report preparation.

  • Human Resources Manager

    Sarah graduated with an MSc in Maths and Psychology and gained MIPD.

    She has worked in many HR roles for over 30 years and is now responsible for all HR-related matters.

  • Office Administrator

    Caroline is the newest member of the admin team.  Having previously worked for an online children’s book rental service, Caroline is excited to take on a new challenge within the world of acoustics.

  • Administrative Assistant

    Lily ensures the smooth running of Quantum’s offices, providing both administrative and marketing support. She is assisting Quantum’s growth while on a year out before heading to University. Lily has a keen eye for detail and great organisational skills to help the business run efficiently.
