Demolition and construction projects require careful management of environmental impacts, particularly noise, vibration, and dust. A Construction Environmental Management Plan (CEMP, SEMP, CMP) are essential for outlining how these issues will be controlled during construction. Many Local Authorities have their own Code of Construction Practice (COCP) which sets out their policy requirements for construction within their jurisdiction areas. Section 61 applications allow contractors to apply for prior consent to make noise. Sometimes this may be required as part of the local COCP requirements for particular size of project, or it might be because of work which is required outside of normal hours. Ensuring compliance with noise regulations can reduce the risk of project delays or even suspension of works. Ongoing noise, vibration, and dust monitoring ensure effective mitigation measures and that the project remains within acceptable limits.
